Bouncing Back
The winter blues have been brutal this year. As a kicker, I just got word that my artwork was not selected for a local new works show that is known to be fairly easy to get into. I'd love to get back in bed and pull the covers over my head. When you feel like this even the most simple tasks feel difficult. I feel simultaneously too old to be trying so hard to learn & grow my art practice and too old to give up now - got to make use of the time I've got left! So, I will take the advice I'd give my friends - get back in the studio, do something for fun that isn't meant to be anything other than play. Do that again. And again. Until the energy returns & the ideas flow. Until the work doesn't feel like work.
