But color can't go away completely

Of course, I don't think I will ever turn my back on color completely. This weekend I worked with a fellow painter who wanted to learn how to paint large color block paintings. She went home with a very nice painting and I ended up with a painting I quite like. We were working on raw canvas, Helen Frankenthaler style, with the wet-on-wet technique. When doing this type of painting it's important to have all your paints already mixed and ready to go. Also, using a separate brush for each color is key. After about an hour of mixing colors, I pause & ask the canvas 'what will work for you today?' - then - be bold!
