It’s Good to be Back

During the past two weeks I’ve been feeling lucky; more precisely - fortunate. A family health scare in the last days of 2020 meant that I walked out of my studio not knowing when I would be able to return to art making. In the 10 weeks since then, so much has happened. So it was with gratitude and joy that I returned to my art practice in the past few days. In my imagination, the art I would make would be calm, powerful in its serenity. In reality, the art I made is messy, unlovely & chaotic; the central idea of luck is not necessarily a comforting concept. For right now, though, I acknowledge my good luck in having a few consecutive studio days.
